Researcher in population genomics
Project description and work duties
We wish to recruit a researcher in population genomics with employment at the Department of Biology, Lund University. The researcher will be active in the research group Molecular Ecology and Evolution (MEEL) which consists of 7 PIs, several post-doctoral and doctoral students, mostly within the projects run by Bengt Hansson, Staffan Bensch and Helena Westerdahl.
The applicant is expected to coordinate MEEL’s bioinformatics analyses and be responsible for handling and storing generated sequence data. The applicant is also expected to conduct research of the highest quality in specified projects that can be published in international scientific journals. There will be a possibly to co-supervise PhD and MSc students within specified projects, and to teach at the basic course level.
Qualifications
Candidates for the position should be creative, independent and highly motivated and should have worked broadly with genome assemblies, and ecologically based genomics and transcriptomics projects. It is a prerequisite with experience of a suite of bioinformatics programs in genomics and transcriptomics. Priority is given to knowledge on the organization and evolution of bird genomes. The candidate should have a strong record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Competence
To be eligible for the position, you must have completed a doctoral degree in biology or bioinformatics.
