Subject description
At the Department of Food Technology, Engineering and Nutrition, research and education are conducted within experimental and theoretical areas to meet issues with relevance to the food industry. The position as a researcher in food technology is linked to the activities within dairy technology, which includes technological and processing aspects on milk and dairy systems, with main research areas within milk genomics, nutrition and health, structure of milk and dairy products as well as dairy processing. The dairy technology group has extensive national and international collaborations with industry, both within research and education. The teaching is linked to specializations and programs in food technology as well as commissioned educations in dairy technology at LTH.

Work duties
The main tasks will be research on special sequence patterns of casein variants to understand the occurrence of non-coagulating milk. The focus will be on identifying genetic variants of caseins and functionality of milk proteins by using gene sequencing and chromatographic techniques at molecular level. The project is a collaboration between industry and academia. The work also involves supervision of master students and doctoral students in dairy technology. It also includes participating in applications for external research funding. The work duties also involve participation in teaching at undergraduate, advanced and postgraduate level to a lesser extent.

Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:

  • A doctoral degree within food technology or equivalent.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish and English.
  • Experience in dairy technology and processing.
  • Research experience in proteomics and genetic protein variants.
  • Research experience of correlations between milk genomics and aggregation/gelation.
  • At least 3 years' post-doctoral work experience from the food industry.
  • Experience of working in research collaborations with industry partners.
  • Ability to conduct research with great independence.

Other qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in dairy technology and dairy processing as well as supervision of degree projects.
  • Experience of leadership and/or leadership training.

Temporary position, 2 years, 100 %, 2021-02-01 – 2023-01-31.
