The Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund (IKVL) is one of six institutions at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. The department has a broad collaboration, both within the faculty and within other units at the University. IKVL also has a well-developed collaboration with Skåne University Hospital (SUS) and Region Skåne as well as the surrounding community and business. This is to promote clinical and experimental translational research, development and education.

Research group

Bone is a complex organ that offers structural and mechanical support to our body but is also the principal location for hematopoiesis. Bone formation involves as distinct stages as possible the formation of cartilage, vascular supply, bone and bone marrow. Our lab aims to compile human specification knowledge on these processors to drive the creation of innovative regenerative treatments.

We are hereby adverstising for the position of a post doctoral fellow. The position is full time for two years according to central agreement for temporary position as post-doctoral fellow. Desired start date is the 1 of March or according to agreement.

Work assignments

The candidate will exploit human mesenchymal cells for the generation and characterization of human ossicles. The project will consist in understanding the mechanisms underlying preferential engraftment of human hematopoietic stem cells in human ossicles.

Qualification requirements
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Other assessments will be done according to the following requirements for the position:

  • Excellent speaking/writing English level.
  • Strong experience with cellular biology techniques, flow cytometry, 2D/3D cell culture.
  • Ability to work with animals.
  • A past-experience in hematopoiesis and in the generation of human ossicles.
  • A strong publication record with peer-reviewed article in international journal is required.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
The applicant must demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to communicate and collaborate with the group's other members and supervise younger students.
Accuracy is a desired trait.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience in epigenetic and chromatin architecture in hematopoietic stem cells is a plus, as well as in confocal microscopy.
  • Experience in Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (DNA-, RNA- and Immuno-FISH); Hybridization probe preparation/labeling by Nick Translation; (Fluorescence), is desirable.
