The Research Group
The division of microbiology, immunology and glycobiology are now offering an exciting opportunity in cancer biology. The group focuses on structural biology and experimental studies involving membrane biology with high-resolution techniques. The assistant researcher will follow a new drug discovery through molecular characterization and mechanisms of action studies to effects in animal models and clinical trials. We are now looking for an associate researcher to work in our ongoing research projects. The position is a permanent full time position with starting date March 1, or according to agreement.

Work duties and responsibilities 

Focus on experimental studies using cell biology, and cancer biology techniques, molecular techniques and protein-peptide technology. The candidate will work both individually and in a team, and proactively test project relevant ideas. The candidate will also serve as a mentor for junior group members. Other work duties are:

- To conduct experimental studies using cell biology and cancer biology techniques, focusing on questions about cell death mechanisms.

- To comparing the properties of known anti-cancer agents to novel discoveries, using these techniques and protein-peptide technology.

- To interact with and assist senior group members in experiments relating to cancer biology.

- To participate in group meetings, read scientific literature and write reports.

Qualifications

The position requires:

  • A PhD in medicine/biomedicine or related areas with extensive training in biophysics and advanced microscopy is required
  • Postdoctoral training within the subject
  • Experience in cancer biology, biophysical analysis and advanced microscopy technique
  • Previous experience in securing independent grants
  • Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The position requires that you have the ability to work independently and be able to structure and prioritize between variety of work tasks. The position also requires great collaboration skills.

  • A good publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • An interest in translational medicine
