Work duties The project will focus on biochemical and molecular characterizations of high arabinoxylan oat lines. This includes the development of methods to analyse arabinoxylan levels and structure, as well as an identification of key arabinoxylan biosynthesis genes from the oat genome and in-depth analyses of their regulation. Promising high arabinoxylan lines will also be characterise by transcriptomics and proteomics, as well as in various field studies.

The work will be conducted in collaboration with researchers within the other work packages of ScanOats, with ScanOats industrial partners Lantmännen, Oatly and Swedish Oat Fibre and with CropTailor AB. Since the position is part of the ScanOats industrial research center, a strategic project to build up world class reseaerch on oat in Sweden, it will 100% research based.

Qualification requirements Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position
  • Postdoctoral experience of research within the area of plant biochemistry and molecular biology
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • Good collaborative skills, drive and independence
  • Experience and skills that complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • Good knowledge in plant physiology, analytical chemistry and agronomy
  • Practical experience in genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and bioinformatics (R, Python and genome analysis)
  • Previous experience in working with plant fibers, especially oat fibres
