Department of Economic History, Lund is announcing a positions as researcher. Limit of tenure is 2021-03-01—2022-02-28. First day of employment is March 1, 2021 or by agreement.

Job assignments

The researcher will work in the research program SWINNO 3.0, especially concerning the Swedish forestry sector and research policy. The research program is based a database of Swedish innovations, containing information on almost 5,000 innovations, 1970-2019. A central task in the project is to analyze the innovations’ origins and their societal impact in different areas. The researcher’s work tasks include empirical analyses of innovation journeys and societal impacts based on innovation data and interviews with industry actors, and writing academic papers for publication, independently and in collaboration with other members of the research team. The researcher is expected to interact with students and to participate actively in the common activities at the department of economic history.

Eligibility

To be qualified for employment as researcher, an individual must hold a PhD or an international degree equivalent in Economic History or related discipline (e.g. Economics, Sociology, Economic Geography, History).

Basis of Assessment

Scholarly proficiency is the main requirement for employment.

The holder of the position should be competent and experienced enough to be able to carry out independent research, using qualitative methods. Documented skills and experience in research on innovation and/or research policy is a requirement for the position. Documented skills and experience in qualitative analysis and interview data are a requirements for the position. Documented skills and experience with interview-based research on the Swedish forestry sector and Swedish research policy is meritorious. For appointment, the candidate must have demonstrated a high degree of research expertise as manifested in the quality of the PhD dissertation and other publications.

Very good oral and written proficiency in English as well as good oral proficiency in Swedish are both requirements.

In addition to the above, the following set of criteria will be applied in the assessment of candidates:

  • international experience;
  • other results and distinctions which attest to the applicant's ability to do research;
  • ability to engage and inform society at large about research.
