The Research Group
The Division of Translational Cancer Research and the Department of Laboratory Medicine, led by Senior Lecturer Chris D. Madsen, is looking to hire an associate researcher. The main focus of the group, is to understand how cancer spreads through the body (a process called metastasis) as this is responsible for over 90% of cancer-related patient deaths. Metastasis is strongly influenced by the physical and chemical properties of the tumour microenvironment, and mechanosignalling has proved essential during metastatic dissemination. The person will undertake work to validate new regulators of mechanotransduction and mechanobiology in tissue remodeling and cancer progression. The project will cover both in vitro and in vivo experimentation and has three major aims: 1) to evaluate the importance of mechanosignalling in the primary tumour, 2) to evaluate how mechanosignalling in the primary tumour affects the local tumour microenvironment. 3) to test how recruitment of stromal cells can determining metastastic spread. Read more about our research here.
We are keen to safeguard a good work environment that allows for open discussions and where we care for each other’s well-being. We engage in equality work and consider differences to enrich our work place.
The research group is looking for an associate researcher to join our team. The employment is a full time position, time limited to 2 years, with the desired access date on April 1, 2021, or according to agreement.
Work duties and area of expertise
The candidate will undertake experimental work to examine how aberrant mechanotransduction is affecting tumour development. The project will cover both in vitro and in vivo experimentation. The associate researcher will develop various cell systems and mouse models to regulate mechanotransduction upon stimulation. The candidate will work with genome editing, lentiviral production, animal models of cancer, inflammation models in animals, and transgenic mouse models of cancer.
