Project assistant: Quantitative environmental policy research on plastics

Scope of the employment: 3 or 6 months, 100 or 50%. Employment from 1st of April to at least 30th of June 2021.

Tasks
The Department of Political Science announces a job as a project assistant. The employment is related to the project called STEPS which is centered around issues related to the transition to a more sustainable use of plastic in society in connection to environmental problems such as pollution, waste management and the climate. The project assistant is expected to contribute to research on policy and governance in relation to plastics. The work will foremost include processing already collected quantitative data on perceptions regarding policy instruments in connection to plastic, and in collaboration with other researchers in the project translate this data into a publication in a scientific journal. The tasks also include immersing oneself in, compiling and mapping literature regarding behavioral research in connection with plastic, consumption, waste management and pollution. It is an advantage if you already have experience of working quantitatively with issues concerning, for example, the environment, climate, political science, sociology, or psychology.

Qualifications
The job as a project assistant requires an ability to perform independent, accurate and systematic work, a curious mindset, and a willingness to work with quantitative data. The following qualifications are a requirement for eligibility for the position:

  • - Experience of working with quantitative methods and the statistical program SPSS.
  • - Good ability to express themselves in written and spoken English.
  • - At least bachelor's level studies in political science, sociology, psychology, statistics or similar.

Good ability to communicate in Swedish is a merit but not a demand.

In practice, the project assistant can work from home from whichever place he or she wishes. However, it is an advantage (but no requirement) if it is possible for you to meet physically in Lund at the Department of Political Science on at least a couple of occasions during the employment.
