The post
Appointment for an indefinite term as Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry combined with a position as specialist/consultant, based until further notice at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö.

Work duties
The duties include teaching, research and clinical activities as well as participation in the management groups at the Faculty of Medicine. Teaching in the medical degree programme is an important element in the position. The successful candidate is also expected to be prepared to take management responsibility in the medical degree programme, above all concerning psychiatry but other general tasks may also be involved. The medical degree programme is currently conducted in Helsingborg, Lund and Malmö with clinical training carried out at a number of other hospitals. The successful candidate should therefore be prepared that work duties may be conducted at more than one location. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to participate in first, second and third-cycle education in the faculty’s various study programmes. It is a precondition that the successful candidate carries out their own advanced research. The position may also include internal and/or external elected office duties. Other duties may also be involved. If the employee lacks five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education at the start of employment, it is part of the employee’s duties to complete the training in the first two years of employment.

Qualifications
According to chapter 4, section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance a person qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer is to have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or acquired the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.

According to Lund University’s Appointment Rules, the applicant must have completed at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired the corresponding knowledge in some other way in order to be qualified. Language skills in Swedish of a minimum level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement. The applicant must be a registered physician with specialist expertise in psychiatry.

Assessment criteria
The applicant is to have demonstrated research and teaching expertise relevant to the subject. In the assessment, teaching skills will be given particular emphasis. The applicant is to have demonstrated teaching expertise both in teaching and in supervising in first, second and third-cycle education. Experience of teaching psychiatry is an additional qualification. The applicant is to demonstrate an ability for leadership, an ability to interact with wider society and the ability to work well as part of a team. The applicant is to have demonstrated research expertise through having a good national and international standing as a researcher and to have well-attested research expertise in psychiatry. Work in international networks and awarded major research grants are additional qualifications. A general qualification requirement applies for teaching staff at Lund University, namely being suitable for and otherwise having the abilities required to fulfil the duties in a satisfactory way.
