The research group

The research group is expanding and is now seeking the addition of a postdoc for a position in a research project aimed at cancer and infection, headed by Prof. Catharina Svanborg. Take the opportunity to follow new drug discoveries from molecular mechanisms and animal models to clinical trials. The lab environment is international and offers great opportunities to develop a scientific career. The employment is a full time position, time limited to two years, regulated by central agreements regarding post-doctoral employments, with the desired access date on May 1st, 2021, or according to agreement. 

Work assignments and area of expertise

As a postdoc in our group, you will conduct experimental studies using cellular and molecular techniques, genomic and transcriptomic technology focusing on questions about specific transcriptional regulators and effects on immunity and cancer. You will also assist in laboratory evaluations of clinical trials. The position offers active interactions with the group members and participation in group meetings. You should also independently read scientific literature and write reports. Supervision of students is part of the activities. Work with experimental animals is not included.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers.

Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

For appointments to a post-doctoral position, the ability to develop and conduct high quality research and also teaching skills will be evaluated as part of the assessment criteria.

Qualifications

Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree equivalent to a PhD, within a subject related to the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Qualifications required:

  • PhD degree in the field of medicine, biomedicine or related areas that is relevant to the position
  • Experience in molecular biology
  • Experience in infection biology
  • Documented competence in "omics" technology
  • Two publications as first author in reputable international journals
  • Fluency in English

Emphasis will be held at personal skills and suitability. The assignments require that you have the ability to work independently, have a good ability to collaborate and excellent intrapersonal and communication skills. Applicants must be able to work both independently and in groups.

Terms of employment

This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of a maximum of 2 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) between Lund University, SACO-S, OFR/S and SEKO, dated 4 September 2008.
