Researcher in environmental science, ecotoxicology and urban chemicals

We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to work within the ongoing interdisciplinary research project ChemFreeGarden on how the use of chemicals in garden environments in different ways affects wild species and people. The announced project will focus on analyzing exposure effects in animals that live in gardens, and could include soil organisms and hedgehogs.

The research environment the project will work within is a collaboration of various researchers analyzing chemicals, micro plastics, ecosystem services, biodiversity and exposure effects.

The goal of the project is to collect information that can be used to promote more sustainable urban green spaces in in the future. Communication with decision-makers, local authorities and the region is an important part of the overall project.

Work duties

The work consists of field work, experimental studies and laboratory work, including molecular biology techniques and chemical analyses.

The field work includes both traditional collection of samples from urban areas as well as working with experimental setups, where we will make use of invertebrate species which have been specifically exposed to common garden chemicals.

Qualification requirements

Requirements:

  • A PhD in ecology, molecular biology, chemistry or environmental science. A background in other research fields could also be considered if directly relevant for the position
  • Documented experience of chemical or molecular biology techniques
  • Very good knowledge of English, in both spoken and written terms
  • Good, documented ability to develop and carry out research of high quality in environmental science areas, preferably across traditional subject boundaries
  • Very good ability to compile and write scientific text

Terms of employment

Temporary position, 12 months.
