The Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund (IKVL) is one of six institutions at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. The department has a broad collaboration, both within the faculty and within other units at the University. IKVL also has a well-developed collaboration with Skåne University Hospital (SUS) and Region Skåne as well as the surrounding community and business. This is topromote clinical and experimental translational research, development and education.

The research group

Infection medicine proteomics (IMP) is a research group that use mass spectrometry-based proteomics techniques to decipher the molecular properties of a protective immune responses against bacterial pathogens.

The department of infection medicine is now looking for a doctor´s employment with proposed start date 2021-05-01, or by agreement.

Work tasks

The work will include using the Rosetta Molecular Modeling suite and TX-MS to model antibody-epitope interactions, characterize them computationally and use RosettaDesign to optimize affinity.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computer science or similar.
  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Proficiency in git.
  • Experience with bioinformatics analysis.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. We like to see that you have the ability to work independently and that you have good communication skills. You need to have high proficiency in written and spoken English. You also need to have good abstract thinking and good problem solving skills. 

Highly desirable:

  • Understanding of wet lab.
  • Modelling of biological systems.
  • R programming.

Eligibility

Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.

The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
