Research group
The position is located at the Epigenetics and Diabetes Unit at Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC), which is a world-leading research environment enabled by strategic grants from the Strategic Research Foundation (SSF) and the Swedish Research Council (EXODIAB; Excellence of Diabetes Research in Sweden). LUDC has platforms for epigenetic research, next generation sequencing and functional studies together with unique human cohorts.

We are hereby advertising for the position of a research engineer. The position is full time for two years with a desired starting date in mid-May
Work duties
The overall objective is to develop and perform epigenetic editing of epigenetic marks associated with type 2 diabetes and of clinical relevance. The applicant will plan her/his research, generate gene constructs, culture and transfect cells, analyze gene expression, DNA methylation, histone modifications, and metabolic phenotypes. The applicant will also perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses of genome-wide human epigenetic data. The applicant will also perform replication of epigenetic results. Data and results will be summarized and the applicant will write manuscripts. There will also be other tasks including administration and supervision based on needs within the research group.

A large emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. For example the ability to collaborate with other researchers, the ability to work independently and develop methods for epigenetic editing as well as the ability to supervise others within these general areas.
