Project Assistant in Biology - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Work duties

We are currently looking for a project assistant to work with us on our MixToxBee project in the Biology department. The project assistant will help us in our efforts to understand how pesticide mixtures affect bumblebee colonies by monitoring colony end points such as colony weight, mortality and foraging activity in the field. Duties will also involve collecting additional samples for residue verification. After the field season, project work will continue in the laboratory as colonies are dissected and samples are processed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in ecology / ecosystem based management
• Demonstrated experience of demanding fieldwork; installation of field equipment and maintenance of field-based experiments
• Good team working skills, but also the ability to work independently
• Reasonable physical fitness as work requires moving around uneven terrain, and, at times working at night
• Good oral proficiency in English
• Clean and valid driving license
  
  

Other merits

• Experience weighing bee colonies and collecting samples from bees in the field
• Experience dissecting bee colonies and processing multiple samples in the laboratory
  
  

Terms of employment

Fixed-term employment, equivalent to five months full-time. Start date: 3rd of May.
