Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Subject description
The research group works with ultrafast spectroscopy to study light-induced processes for solar energy materials. We use large-scale synchrotron facilities for advanced materials’ characterization. Specifically, in this project we will investigate the details of photocatalytic conversion of simple molecules to useful materials.

Work duties
The researcher will be responsible for creating hybrid systems that combine nano-structured materials with biological agents to develop scalable, affordable, and sustainable devices. We envision fully solution processable efficient light harvesting system with bio-compatible interfaces coupled to biological catalytic centers that carry out red-ox reactions, including N2 reduction to ammonia and biomass oxidation to value-added chemicals. We will investigate the optimum charge and energy carrier pathways between light-harvesting system and catalytic centers by applying advanced analytic methods including laser and x-ray spectroscopies to understand the transport processes in detail.

Qualification requirements

  • PhD in materials chemistry, physical chemistry or similar.
  • Experience with photo-active materials for photocatalyses.
  • Good English both oral and written.
  • Earlier experience with X-ray-based material characterization.
  • The work requires capacity for independent research and experience in problem solving.
  • Good team work capacity is also expected.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
Earlier experience in working with photoactive nanomaterials, clean room fabrication, lithography and reactive ion etching is highly meriting.
