The Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund (IKVL) is one of six institutions at the Faculty ofMedicine, Lund University. The department has a broad collaboration, both within the faculty and within other units at the University. IKVL also has a well-developed collaboration with Skåne University Hospital (SUS) and Region Skåne as well as the surrounding community and business. This is topromote clinical and experimental translational research, development and education.

The research group

The doctoral student will be placed within the research group Quantitative Immunobiology. The research group conducts technology-driven medical research focused on immunology, infection and cancer and consists of a mix of doctoral students, postdocs and technical and administrative staff.

The department of infection medicine is now looking for a doctor´s employment with proposed start date 2021-06-01, or by agreement.

Work tasks

The work includes the development and use of data-driven microscopy (DDM), a new microscopy platform that is being developed within the research group. DDM will be used to investigate cell migration and interaction with other cells and their environment. The results will be applied to medical issues in cancer, infection and immunology.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master of Science in Technical Physics or equivalent
  • Very strong experience in image analysis, programming in Julia, MATLAB, Python, C ++, Git and server architecture.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. We like to see that you have the ability to cooperate at the same time as you can work independently. We would also like to see that you have the ability to organize your work.

Highly desirable:

  • Programming courses at university level.
  • Well versed in medical issues


Eligibility

Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.

The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
