The University has around 44 000 students and more than 8 000 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University is one of the leading education and research institutions in Sweden and operates both in Lund and Helsingborg.

The Department of Service Management and Service Studies is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and is located at Campus Helsingborg. The department was established in 2000 and is now a thriving interdisciplinary research and education environment employing some 45 lecturers, senior lecturers and professors. The department’s staff are drawn from a range of disciplinary backgrounds: service studies, business administration, human geography, sociology, ethnology, human ecology, history, logistics and environmental strategy. The department has five professors and two visiting professors. The department currently enjoys a relatively even distribution between female and male teachers and researchers. At the time of writing, the department has 13 active doctoral students undertaking service studies.

The department offers two bachelor’s programmes in service management. There is also a master’s programme in service management with five specialisations: culture and creativity management, retail, supply chain service management, sustainable service management and tourism. At first-cycle, the teaching language is Swedish and at second-cycle, English.

The point of departure for research at the department is current societal problems in which the service sector is in focus. Our research problematises, interrogates, contributes new perspectives to and demonstrates socially, economically and environmentally sustainable ways forward for the service society. Research is organised into four interdisciplinary themes: Sustainability, Resources & Services; Management, Organisation & Work; Tourism, Place & Mobility; and Consumption, Marketing & Retail. Individual researchers may be affiliated to one or more of these themes.

Your duties are to plan, coordinate and carry out activities for Master’s students together with the department’s communications officer and Master’s coordinator. Your main duties are to organise events, functions and other activities that aim to communicate and market our programmes as well as motivate and engage the students in their programme. Other administrative assignments may be involved.

As a student worker you become an important link between the department and the students and can contribute the students’ perspective to our communication and our work on the Master’s programme. You will also become an ambassador for our programmes and help to spread a positive image of studying with us. The position is 20% of full-time and you work one day per week at the department.

To be considered for the position of student worker you must be:

  • admitted for second cycle education conducted at Lund University’s Campus Helsingborg.

Desired/additional qualifications:

  • You are studying a Master’s programme in Service Management or some other Master’s programme in the social sciences.
  • Experience of similar administrative duties
  • Experience of working on events or projects

Personal qualities are important. The duties involve a considerable requirement for working independently. It is important that you are outgoing, service-minded and curious to learn new things. You are willing to take responsibility and have a strong feeling for cooperation. As the greater part of your work involves communication with international students, very good proficiency in English, orally and in writing, is required.
