The Faculty of Science conducts research and education within Biology, Astronomy, Physics, Geosciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Environmental Science. The Faculty is organized into nine departments, gathered in the northern campus area. The Faculty has approximately 1500 students, 330 PhD students and 700 employees.

Job assignments
Teaching and research in algebra. Especially teaching in number theory and supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold a doctorate in mathematics or demonstrate equivalent competence.
  • Applicants must demonstrate teaching expertise.
  • Applicants are required to have completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or to have acquired equivalent knowledge by other means. In certain cases, exceptions can be made from this requirement.
  • Applicants must have documented scientific skills in an algebraic research field, for example Group theory, Ring theory, Algebraic Geometry or Number theory.
  • Applicants must have experience of teaching courses in algebra at master’s level. Teaching experience in number theory is particularly meritorious.
  • Applicants must have experience of supervising bachelor’s or master’s theses
  • The ability to teach in English is a requirement.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research and teaching at the department.

Type of employment
Full-time, fixed-term employment of a maximum of 6 months.
