Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

The Department of Chemistry at Lund University (KILU) is a joint department of chemistry within the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering. The Department of Chemistry consists of four research units: Centre for Analysis and Synthesis (CAS), Center for Molecular Protein Science, Center for Applied Biosciences and the Unit for Physical and Theoretical Chemistry. The current position is placed at CAS, where there is research and teaching in organic, inorganic, analytical and materials chemistry, as well as polymer technology. All research and education at the department takes place at the Chemcal Center, but within a few years the vision is that KILU together with the Department of Physics will be jointly established in the Science Village near Max IV and ESS. We are thus facing an exciting project with great opportunities in terms of new modern premises, infrastructure and organization. The new teacher in organic chemistry with a focus on organometallic chemistry will play an important role in this transformation.

Organometallic chemistry is a subject on the border between organic and inorganic chemistry and is about the organic chemistry of metals. At KILU, the organometallic chemistry is focused on the chemistry of the transition metals and the advertised position concerns research on the structure, reactivity and applications of such molecules in homogeneous catalysis and organic synthesis.
