Subject description The subject of this researcher position is in the area of separation technology, in particular processes based on membrane technology applied for the recovery and concentration valuable components from fermentation broth and the utilisation of the membrane processes forward osmosis and membrane distillation for seawater desalination.

Work duties The main duties involved in a research position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position can include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning. Specific tasks to be carried out include:

  • Integration and optimization of forward osmosis and membrane distillation on pilot scale for seawater desalination using low grade heat.
  • Development of a down-stream process for the recovery of valuable components (proteins) from fermentation broth.

Qualification requirements Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Teaching skills.
  • Documented research experience with separation processes in particular membrane processes but also centrifugation, decantation and spray drying on pilot scale.
  • Ability to formulate research ideas within the field.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment Temporary employment, 100 %, with start as soon as possible until 2021-09-30.
