Subject description

Time-resolved THz spectroscopy of photovoltaic materials.

Work duties

  • Setting up and overseeing an experimental scheme for time-resolved THz measurements.
  • Combining experimental studies on time-resolved THz with time-resolved emission and transient absorption techniques.
  • Characterization of charge photogeneration, separation and recombination in photovoltaic materials and device prototypes.
  • Development of higher education teaching and learning abilities via participation in relevant training programs.
  • Supervision of diploma and doctoral students withing the project activity.
  • Actively seeking external research funding.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within physics or chemical physics.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Expertize in operation of ultra-short pulse lasers.
  • Expertize in THz generation and characterization.
  • Experience in time-resolved emission and transient absorption spectroscopy.
  • Experience in programming and data modelling.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

The work is to be performed in close collaboration with a large concortium of inorganic and theoretical chemists and physicists. Therefore, exellent collaboration skills are required. The time-resolved THz spectroscopy will be the field of independent research to be combined with the activity of the concortium on developing new photosensitizers and solar cell arcitectures. Ability to drive further experimental applications of short-pulse THz radiation.
