Lecturer in Sustainable Urban Design, temporary position - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The position refers to teaching within the international master's program SUDes (Sustainable Urban Design). 

Subject description
The subject is about teaching and research concerning urban planning and the design of urban places and environments. The education includes design at all scale levels and in relation to place and spatial context, aesthetics and artistry, sustainable urban development, use and societal conditions. The subject also includes the dissemination of urban design via sketches, drawings, models, etc. as well as the processes that lead to a designed proposal.

The international master's program SUDes (Sustainable Urban Design) was founded in 2007 and is today a reputable education in sustainable urban construction. At the heart of education is the relationship between urban design and sustainable urban development. The students work in different scales, from detail to region, and the teaching is conducted in the form of projects with support in theoretical courses, lectures and seminars.

Work duties
Work duties include:

• Teaching at advanced level, mainly within the master's program SUDes.
• Supervision of degree workers.
• Collaboration with business and society in connection with teaching.
• Pedagogical competence development within the framework of the employment.
• Course planning in consultation with colleagues.
• Administration linked to the tasks above.

Qualification requirements
Appointment as a lecturer requires that the applicant has:

• Degree at advanced level or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge beside other skills that are important regarding the employment's subject orientation and the tasks included in the employment.
• Demonstrated pedagogical skills.
• Five weeks of higher education pedagogical training or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge. If there are special reasons, e.g., when the applicant in her/his previous employment did not have the conditions to acquire such knowledge, employment can still take place.

Additional requirements:

• Completed architect's degree, landscape architect's degree or master's degree in physical planning.
• Very good knowledge of English, speech and writing.
• Documented experience of working with architectural urban design after graduation.

Assessment criteria
For appointments to lecturer, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

• Documented experience of teaching architecture and urban planning.
• Interest in developing the pedagogy of architecture.
• Interest and aptitude for reflection on architecture and the role of architect.
• Familiarity with the commonly used digital tools and programs of architectural practice.
• Good knowledge of Swedish

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
