Subject description
Modelling of flame/turbulence interaction in marine engines.
Work duties
We are looking for a self-motivated researcher in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling of turbulent reacting flows in marine engines. Detailed description of the work duties:
- development of high efficiency and high accuracy turbulent combustion models for simulation of combustion of low GHG emission fuels in marine engines.
- involvement in supervision of PhD students and Master thesis students.
Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:
- a PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
- very good oral and written proficiency in English.
- good C++ programming skill and HPC large data experiences
- good experiences in parallel computing and supercomputers
- very good knowledge in CFD theory and code development, preferably familiar with OpenFoam, an Open Source CFD platform
- strong background in spray/gas two-phase flows, chemical kinetics of complex fuels, and heat and mass transfer.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Fixed-term employment, 2 years, 100 %.
