The research project is part of ScanOats, an industrial research centre with the focus on oat. The general aim is to deepen the knowledge on the relationship oat and health and thereby facilitate development of new oat-based, health-promoting foods. Our research is mainly based on conducting dietary intervention studies in humans to evaluate the effects of new oat varieties and their derived products on metabolic parameters.

We are offering a Project Assistant position with the Biomedical Nutrition Research Group for four months. The Biomedical Nutrition Research Group belongs to the Division of Pure and Applied Biochemistry and has collaboration with the Department of Food Technology.

Work duties The main duty will be performing a meal study. This includes that you design the test products, take responsibility for study planning and the recruitment of participants, take capillary blood samples and do lab analyses (i.e. immuno assays, dietary fiber and starch analyses). The research also includes conducting literature reviews. Other existing tasks within the research group may also be relevant.

Qualifications

  • Education:Master degree in relevant education, preferably in Food Technlogy and Nutrition
  • Experience in conducting meal studies
  • Experience with immuno-assays Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English

Other merits

  • Knowledge on metabolic diseases (obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome)
  • Experience with in vitro starch digestion and absorption experiments
  • Good statistical knowledge
  • Basic skills in Swedish would be an advantage

Terms of employment  Temporary position, four months (100%), with starting date as soon as possible.
