Associate Professor Isabella Artner leads the research group Endocrine Cell Differentiation and Function at the Stem Cell Center at the Faculty of Medicine. Our research group investigates on how endocrine cells develop in the pancreas. For this, we use cell biology and transcriptomic approaches. The group comprises 4 individuals with diverse background (experimental, computational). We collaborate with multiple groups in Sweden and internationally.

We are hereby looking for and driven doctoral student who will work in the doctoral project "Transcriptional regulation of embryonic alpha cell differentiation". The employment is limited to 4 years on a full-time basis with the desired date of entry on 1 October 2021 or by agreement.
Requirements and work tasks
We are searching for a Ph.D. student interested in cell and developmental biology, with a focus on alpha and beta cell formation and diabetes. Specifically, the project aims to identify and study genes important to alpha cell formation and function, and link these to genetic data on pancreatic islet function and diabetes.

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.
The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
