The research group
At the research group for the brain's sensorimotor functions, research is conducted in integrative neurophysiology. The research has been at the forefront of the field for several years. The group is led by professor Henrik Jörntell and consists of both research and technical staff. The group is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund. Here you can read more about our research: http://neuro.sensorimotor.se
The position will enable us to address a main research issue for the group Neural Basis of Sensorimotor Control, which is the functional model of the interaction between subcortical and neocortical neurons in the processing of sensorimotor information generated in a sensorized model plant system with rich intrinsic dynamics. These include knowledge of dynamic sensing, as in tactile haptic interactions, and understanding of how the brain generates information through its sensors by active motor control.
Within the research group we aim for a workplace that is perceived as developing and stimulating for all employees. We are looking assistant researcher for a full time temporary employment for 2 years. Start date 2021-12-01 or by agreement.
Job assignment
Simulations at the neuronal level of neocortical learning processes based on naturalistic, coherent sensory spaces. Associated neuronal circuitry mechanisms for perceptual function. Other tasks within the research group may be relevant.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
-Mathematical Competence equivalent to doctoral degree in engineering
-Previous training in computational neuronal modelling and neurorobotics.
-Demonstrable know-how of how to simulate neuronal circuitry based on such neuronal models, for a system receiving inputs from naturalistic sensor spaces.
-Previous experience of analyzing these issues in haptic systems.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The candidate should have a large degree of independence in addressing these issues and good cooperative skills.
Desired qualifications:
- Publications in the field of neuronal networks simulations. Publications in the field of modelling haptics information processing.
Instructions for the application
The application must contain a cover letter, in which you describe how you meet the qualifications, a CV and a diploma.
