ICOS Carbon Portal is hosted by the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Sciences and is part of ICOS ERIC, the legal entity of the Integrated Carbon Observation System that provides high quality long-term measurements of greenhouse gas exchange in the domains of atmosphere, ecosystems and ocean. Carbon Portal offers open access to all ICOS high-quality and standardised greenhouse gas data, as well as scientific and educational products produced by our scientific users. The Carbon Portal is thus a 'one-stop shop' for all ICOS data products. Carbon Portal also (co-)develops web services for the user community that support the scientific exploration of the data.
Work duties
ICOS has a strong observational network producing reliable, high quality data. As a highly distributed research infrastructure, the operations require coordination and continuous development.
Further developing technologies and observational approaches is one strategic goal of ICOS often supported through projects by the European Commission. ICOS has recently successfully acquired the H2020 project in the context of the European Green Deal ‘Pilot Application in Urban Landscapes - towards integrated city observatories for greenhouse gases’ (PAUL). The project will support the European Green Deal by creating capabilities to observe and verify greenhouse gas emissions from densely populated urban areas across Europe. In order to complement the project coordination team, ICOS is seeking an experienced project coordinator.
