Subject description and work tasks

Lund University School of Economics and Management announces a permanent, full-time position as senior lecturer in Business Administration, specialising in Management. The position comprises 70% teaching, 20% research and professional development, and 10% administrative duties.

We are looking for one or more senior lecturers who can independently take charge of course responsibilities, including quality assurance and pedagogical development and be actively involved in a range of undergraduate and graduate courses at the department. Not least, we are looking for candidates who can supervise and examine undergraduate and masters’ theses with different methodological approaches.

Teaching is conducted in Swedish and in English.

The position also aims to contribute to the long-term strengthening of research in management, strategy and organisation. This includes publishing articles in scholarly journals, applying for external funding, keeping updated on research in the area, etc.

In addition to teaching and conducting research, the senior lecturer is expected to cooperate with wider society, thereby fulfilling the university’s so-called third task, and to actively participate in the development activities of the faculty and research group.

Eligibility

In order to be a qualified applicant, a PhD in organisation, management or a related subject area is required, as well as demonstrated pedagogical competence. Completion of at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning is also required.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Experience of teaching in management and leadership.
  • A strong and distinct research agenda within organisation, management or a related area, with a standard that corresponds to peer-reviewed research of international quality.
  • Documented experience of cooperating with society and industry, for example with policy papers, evaluations, public inquiries, opinion articles and teaching of practitioners.
  • Ability to interact with students as well as colleagues, including collegial, continuous and frequent participation in development of research and teaching in the subject area, through physical presence at the department.
  • Ability to teach in Swedish and in English.
  • Ability to supervise and examine student theses that use different methodological approaches.
  • Demonstrated pedagogical portfolio that includes teaching as well as pedagogical development of course modules and educational materials.

Also of merit:

  • Experience of teaching executives and other professionals.
  • Experience of teaching business ethics, sustainability or similar topics.
  • Experience of online teaching.

In addition to formal competence, we require certain personal capabilities. The candidate should show initiative, ability to see the wider context and a capacity to collaborate with and respect others. The ability to cooperate in smaller and larger teams of faculty is particularly important.

Assessment criteria

For appointments to senior lecturer, the following assessment criteria shall apply (Lund University’s employment regulations):

  • A good national and international standing as a researcher. The requirement for international experience shall be assessed with consideration to the character and traditions of the subject.
  • Good teaching ability, including a good ability to conduct, develop and lead educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • An ability to supervise doctoral students to achieve a PhD.
  • An ability to cooperate with wider society and communicate his or her activities.
  • A good general ability to lead and develop activities.

This is a permanent position, 100%.
