Subject description

The position comprises research and development in biomedical engineering with a focus on acoustofluidics and clinical applications of acoustophores.

Work duties

The main duties involved in the position is to conduct research within acoustofluidics. The research activities involve performance evaluation of acoustophoresis devices and research within and development of protocols for clinical processing of blood using acoustophoresis.

Detailed description of the work duties, such as:

  • Research within the acoustofluidics field
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students
  • Actively seeking external research funding
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • Performed post doctoral studies in the field of acoustofluidics
  • Very good knowledge of microchip acoustophoresis
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • Good ability to conduct and communicate high quality research
  • Research skills within the subject.
  • Experience of blood and blood component analysis
  • Experience of blood plasma generation based on acoustophoresis
  • Experience of acoustophoresis system design, operation and performance evaluation
  • Experience of power management in mechanically coupled multi transducer acoustophoresis systems

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to the future development of the acoustofluidics field.

Terms of employment

Fixed term employment, 100%, until 220630.
