Work duties
The main task of the applicant is to evaluate and improve the suitability of the dynamic vegetation model LPJ-GUESS to simulate carbon sequestration in agricultural areas. This work is part of the CARBONFARMING project and the successful candidate should interact with the project participants in performing simulations comparing the abilities of the models of the partners with LPJ-GUESS as well as extracting code to be run within the partners modules. While large parts of the evaluation data has already been collected so that the evaluation can start immediately, the candidate should also try to collect and process extra data if available.

The work needs to be documented, time sheets need to be filled in and a deliverable report need to be written for the project owner.

Qualifications

  • Experience with analyzing and presenting different methods of carbon sequestration quantification, such as different models and remote sensing
  • Programming knowledge of C++

  • Previous applicaton of the LPJ-GUESS (or LPJ) modelling framework.

Terms of employment
The position will be a fixed-term employment, covering 4 months. Start date: November 1st.  The work can be performed either at 100% or at a lower percentage but not less than 50% of a full time position.
