We have an attractive undergraduate education providing our students advantageous academic degrees for working life or postgraduate education. We coordinate the bachelor program in Information Systems at the School of Economics and Management, and offer independent courses and the inernational masters program in Information Systems.

Lund University announces one position as researcher in informatics. The position is a full time temporary position of one year and is placed at the Department of Informatics, Lund School of Economics and Management, Lund University.

Job description

The department needs to strengthen research in the areas of design, development, implementation and evaluation of information systems with specific focus on digital transformation.

  • The position includes supporting research programs in digital transformation, AI and sustainability through the following efforts:
    • Conducting reviews of the literature on the above-mentioned topics
    • Brainstorming on the research questions and problematization
    • Collecting data (both qualitative and quantitative)
    • Analyzing data using either qualitative approaches (e.g., using Nvivo) or quantitative methods (e.g., statistical techniques, analytical modeling on large volume data)
  • Supporting the writing and execution of new research grants through the following efforts:
    • Working closely with industry and academic partners
    • Helping develop research budgets
  • Supporting research work on ongoing grants
  • Administrative tasks may also be included

It is the expectation that the researcher will be a close research collaborator and co-author of manuscripts generated from the above programs, and will work actively to contribute to the department and School’s research reputation.

The applicant is expected to be in an active and productive phase of his/her academic career and thereby active within the international research in Information Systems.

Eligibility and competence

Appointment to the position as a researcher requires that the applicant has completed their PhD or near-completion of a PhD in Informatics, Information Systems, or an international degree equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position. Near-completion a PhD means having conducted at least the final doctoral thesis seminar and having successfully acquired all PhD-course credits.

To be qualified for the position, broad and deep experience and competence in digital transformation is required as well as very good knowledge of English in speech and writing.

Basis of assessment

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers. Particular emphasis will be placed on knowledge and research skills within the subject.

The overall assessment of scientific skills, special emphasis is placed on having published in highly ranked international scientific jounals and/or presented conference papers at highly ranked international conferences. The publications/conference presentations are to be in the field of Information Systems focusing on digital transformation, AI and sustainability.

Experience of participating in international research projects, project management and having successfully applied for external funding is meritorious.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development. The Department of Informatics is a small department, why collegial interaction and the individual's efforts are of great importance.
