The Research Group

Researcher Charlotta Böiers leads the research group Developmental Lymphopoiesis and Leukemia at the Division of Molecular Heamatology at the Faculty of Medicine. The research group focuses on Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), which is one of the most common cancers in children. An unanswered question in cancer in general is in which cell the process starts. ALL in children provide unique opportunities to study this as the mutation that comes first is often known and in several cases has been shown to occur already during fetal life.

The goal of the project is to study leukemia with a focus on how the disease is initiated. We use pluripotent stem cells to model leukemia and study how mutations affect otherwise normal cells biologically and molecularly. Read more about our ongoing research here.

Within the research group, we strive to create a creative and stimulating work environment and to promote new ideas and independent thinking.

We are hereby looking for an ambitious doctoral student who will work in the doctoral project "Modelling B cell leukemia using pluripotent stem cells". The employment is limited to 4 years on a full-time basis with the desired date of entry on 1 December 2021.
