The Research Group

Professor Jonas Larsson leads the research group Stem Cell Regulation at the Division of Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy. The research group conducts research within the field of regulation of human blood stem cells and the development of new strategies for targeted protein degradation. We are now looking for an associate researcher to a project within the field of Diamond Blackfan anemia disease. The position is a full time position limited to 1 year starting January 1, 2022.

Work duties and area of expertise

The associate researcher will be a part om a research project lead by Professor Stefan Karlsson. Read more about his ongoing research here. The project involves the development of mouse models for Diamond Blackfan anemia. These models are used to develop gene therapy for hematopoietic stem cells with the aim to cure Diamond Blackfan anemia. Lentiviral vectors are used to transfer the Ribosomal S 19 gene to hematopoietic stem cells.

Qualifications

The position requires:

  • PhD degree in biologi, biochemistry or another related topic
  • Several years of experience in conducting postdoctoral research independently
  • Publication in reputable high impact journals
  • Documented experience of handling experimental animals (mice)
  • Knowledge in hematopoiesis, hematopoietic stem cells and bone marrow transplantation of experimental animals
  • Experience in the use of viral vectors to tranfer genes to hemtopoietic stem cells

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. You must have a good ability to work independently and take initiatives. You must also have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
