Work duties
These tasks will be performed:

  • Emulate a cloud model with a deep learning neural network and implement it in a global model of climate
  • Simulate the present-day climate with validation against observations
  • Simulate future climate change
  • Estimate impacts on renewable energy sources

Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:

  • A strong background in numerical modeling and knowledge of mesoscale meteorology
  • A doctoral (PhD) degree in meteorology, with a bachelor's degree in physics or maths
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • Programming language experience in UNIX environments, such as Fortran or C

It is meriting to have:

It is an advantage if the applicant has documented knowledge in: - (1) mathematics, especially differential equations; (2) numerical methods and / or computer programming; and (3) physical meteorology (for example, cloud physics).

Familiarity with AI techniques and tools would be an advantage but is not essential.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
