The Research Group
Stem Cell Center (SCC) is a world-leading center for stem cell research and support of Stem Therapy. SCC consists of 42 research groups that have conducted interdisciplinary research in several aspects of developmental and stem cell biology. In addition to high-quality research, SCC also conducts excellent training of the next generation of researchers with their well-developed research school. SCC works dedicatedly for its mission with the long-term goal of making stem cell therapies a reality by transferring basic scientific results to the clinic to improve human health.

SCC is an international work environment with over 40 nationalities represented and has a strong feeling of community. We are now looking for a project coordinator who will be responsible for, and develop SCC's communication flow and branding. The employment is a fixed term employment, time limited to 2 years, with the opportunity to work 50-100%. Desired start date is February 1, 2022 or as soon as agreed.

Work duties and area of expertise
As our project coordinator, you will maintain and develop new types of communication strategies together with SCC's management team, of which you will be an active part of. The role is high profile and entails overall responsibility for both internal and external communication SCC. Overall, the service will play a key role in contributing to the common goals by nurturing SCC's environment and contributing to strengthening our brand as a world-leading research center and at the same time highlight the successful transfer of results from basic research to the clinic. The project coordinator shall, among other things, perform the following tasks:

  • Interact with SCC's management team, group leaders, young researchers at the Graduate School, administrators and communicators at faculty and university level as well as at other strategic research areas
  • Maintain a relevant information flow to employees at SCC regarding internal and external activities
  • Communicate with other units at the university, grant agencies, decision-makers and society at large
  • Actively identify opportunities to strengthen the community within SCCs and increase the visibility of SCCs research environment and activities in a sustainable way, both nationally and internationally
  • Create creative and engaging texts about ongoing research at SCC to make ours visible research and the research environment. This includes interviewing researchers, writing articles and press releases
  • Make visible activities organized by SCC, such as seminars, workshops, symposia and popular science initiatives. Responsible for, updating and developing SCC's website and social media (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn)
  • Interact with other levels of the university, e.g. with other strategic research areas (SRAs), to promote a collaborative environment for researchers at SCC. This includes e.g. support with communication materials to researchers or the general public (such as figures or brochures)
  • Responsible for communication in inquiries from key stakeholders and the public, such as media and patients
  • Together with SCC management provide scientific input in terms of strengthening engagement and knowledge exchange with key stakeholders, as well as marketing

Qualifications
The position requires:

  • Bachelor's degree in natural sciences (medicine, biology, chemistry or similar)
  • Be a skilled communicator both verbally and in writing, preferably with experience in science communication
  • Experience of various social media platforms and strategic development of visibility in social media
  • Experience in creating and updating websites (eg Drupal)
  • Fluent English both in speech and writing

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. The tasks require that you have an excellent ability to prioritize work among many parallel ongoing projects and work towards tight deadlines. The work is very team-based and therefore requires very good communication and collaboration skills. We are looking for a service-oriented person who wants to build strong working relationships
