CEC is seeking a highly motivated Researcher within DrivenByPollinators, a five-year ERC project (2020-2024) on the effect of landscape-scale land-use intensity on plant communities as mediated by pollinators and herbivores, located in southern Sweden. The Researcher will have a leading role in the field-based and experimental parts of the project, as well as in the synthesis of the project findings.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology or similar.
  • Extensive experience coordinating and maintaining large landscape-scale field and/or mesocosm projects.
  • Very good knowledge surveying and identifying grassland flora and relevant insect fauna (wild bees, flies, beetles) in the study region.
  • Good command of advanced statistical modelling and handling large spatials data in R and GIS.
  • Good publication record relative to the career length.
  • Experience leading literature syntheses (reviews and/or meta-analyses).
  • Experience supervising field/lab assistants and degree projects.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Excellent documentation and databasing skills.
  • Driving license.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • Experience in outreach activities outside academia (for example targeting Farmers)
  • Experience in maintaining experiments with live plants and insects, including domesticated bumble bees and solitary bees.
  • Good knowledge of oral and written Swedish

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the DrivenByPollinators team and the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
