The research group
Schmidtchen lab conducts world-leading research in innate immunity and wound healing, and has long-term support from the Swedish Research Council, which in Nov 2020 ranked the project as No. The focus for the past two decades has been on studies of our innate immunity mechanisms and the development of new therapy concepts for infective-inflammatory diseases – from wound healing to systemic applications. Collaborations with many external and internal stakeholders are ongoing as well. The therapy concepts are developed in collaboration with biotech companies at Medicon Village, Lund.
Those who work with the projects in the team include three associate professors/senior researchers, technical personnel, and MDs.
Within the department, we ensure a good working environment with respect and consideration in our relationships with each other. We are constantly working to create the conditions for job satisfaction, development and participation for all employees.
The research group is now looking for a research engineer for a temporary employment for about 1 year and with a proposed start date 2022-04-01 (or by agreement).
Work tasks
You will be working in a dynamic environment with translational projects that involve in vivo studies in rodents, using both infection and inflammation models. General microbiome analyses will be an integral part of the projects, therefore knowledge of bacterial DNA isolation is required. Standard microbiology, molecular biology, biochemical studies, and in vitro cell models will be a part of the projects as well as reporting and manuscript writing that will be an important part of the work. Finally, the work will involve interactions with biotech companies at Medicon Village that work with therapy development and clinical trials.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The tasks require that you are responsible and can handle several parallel projects at the same time. You who apply need to have the ability to lead projects independently and we see that you enjoy working in a multicultural environment. The projects will follow schedules and the ability to deliver on time is a priority.
