Subject description
The researcher will work within the INVISMO project – A New Framework for Predicting Insect Pollinator Habitat Requirements – funded by a grant from the Swedish Research Council (VR), which pursues the role of insect vision as a mediator and predictor of changes in pollinator abundance in response to global change. The interdisciplinary project team holds expertise in landscape ecology, sensory biology, molecular systematics, and macroecology. Here we look for a researcher with expertise in landscape ecology to conduct research in collaboration with other project and research group members.

Work duties
The successful candidate will carry out field studies to follow up on questions identified as especially interesting in the project’s initial stages, and conduct investigations into the potential role of light in structuring the ecological niche to buffer competition between pollinators. In addition, the candidate will perform statistical analyses on data collected within the project and produce scientific papers. The candidate will also actively contribute to the general scientific discussion in the larger research group and take initiative to collaborate with other group members on additional research endeavors.

Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:

  • A PhD in ecology, biology or closely related subject
  • Knowledge of landscape ecology
  • Experience planning and carrying out ecological field experiments
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • Proven ability to produce high quality scientific output
  • A valid drivers’ license

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • Knowledge of sensory ecology
  • Knowledge of pollinator ecology

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
