Research Engineering in Biotechnology - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The position of a project assistant is placed at the Department of Chemistry, Division of Biotechnology, which conducts research and education at undergraduate and graduate level within various branches of biotechnology.

Work duties The work duties as a research engineer involve active participation in a research project, conducted in collaboration with Chalmers Technical University and a SME, Cirkulär AB, supported by the Swedish Energy Agency. The tasks involve experiments on recovery of a protein in a pure form from spent fermentation broth, testing membrane filters for separation of cell biomass and protein, setting up a continuous fermentation process, perform analyses using HPLC, spectrophotometry and electrophoresis, analysis of data, and write monthly reports.

Qualifications

• Master of Engineering in Biotechnology /(Bio-)Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of microbial cultivations, protein separation techniques, analyses based on chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques.
• Very good oral and written proficiency in English, and good communication abilities.
• Ability to perform independent work as well as a team member,
• Ability to critically review scientific literature.

Other merits

• Work experience in a laboratory after undergraduate education, ability to set up and operate a bioreactor and membrane filtration are of merit.

Terms of employment Temporary employment: 100 % for 6 months, with start according to agreement.
