Researcher in Chemical Engineering – Membrane Filtration - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Subject description:

The subject of this researcher position is in the area of separation technology, in particular processes based on membrane technology applied for the recovery and concentration valuable components from fermentation broth and the utilisation of the membrane processes forward osmosis and membrane distillation for seawater desalination.

Work duties:

The main duties involved in a post-doctoral position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.

Specific tasks to be carried out include:

• Integration and optimization of forward osmosis and membrane distillation on pilot scale for seawater desalination using low grade heat.

• Development of a down-stream process for the recovery of valuable components (proteins) from fermentation broth. 

Qualification requirements:

Appointment to a researcher position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

Additional requirements:

·         Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

·         Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications:

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers.

Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

For appointments to the reseacher position, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

·         A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.

·         Proven teaching skills.

·         Documented research experience with separation processes in particular micro- and ultrafiltration on lab and on pilot scale.

·         Documented knowledge on membrane fouling and membrane cleaning.

·         Ability to analyse membranes and liquid solutions.

·         Ability to formulate research ideas within the field.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, as well as excellent skill to present and communicate research and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment:
2022-01-01 to 2022-12-31.

The position is 100% of full time.
