Project assistant in “Modelling Arctic plant root dynamics for permafrost-affected ecosystems”

Work duties
This position is for a project assistant to carry out a literature review on Arctic plant root traits and their relationship with climate change, which will be used for process-based modelling of ecosystem processes with a focus on improved understanding of field manipulation results. Data assimilation with remote sensing-based products will be applied for the developed process-based model for upscaling of ecosystem responses to climate change.

The project assistent to be hired will be guided by the project team. Previous experience working on ecosystem modelling, data assimilation, and soil mapping is highly regarded.

Qualifications

  • Master degree in Earth system science or environmental science, or other displines or interdisplinary research relevant to physical geography and ecosystem science.
  • Documented research expertise through the quality of their thesis and publications.
  • Having the knowledge of ecosystem modelling.
  • Programming using matlab, R or Python.
  • Fluent English is a requirement.
