Lund Stem Cell Center (SCC) at Lund University (read more here) is a world-leading center for stem cell research with the mission of transferring basic science findings to the clinic in order to make a fundamental difference to improve human health. Established in 2008, SCC now consists of over 40 outstanding research groups, all performing fundamental, multidisciplinary research. Research at SCC is diverse and covers several aspects of developmental and stem cell biology, including but not limited to restorative neurology, hematopoiesis, endocrine cell differentiation, lung bioengineering and bone formation processes. SCC is committed to excellence in stem cell research, rigorous and thoughtful training for the next generation of scientists, and the long-term goal of making stem cell therapies a reality. SCC is a highly international (over 40 nationalities) work environment and has a great sense of community. The center itself is an umbrella organisation, with members employed at several different departments and divisions at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University, several of whom have links to Skåne University Hospital.

The Cell and Gene Therapy Core
The Cell and Gene Therapy Core is an entity within the SCC and its purpose is to offer and develop high-quality services that can facilitate research and further the excellence of the center and its research groups. We offer iPSC services such as reprogramming and CRISPR-edits, CRISPR experimental designs, vector design and production as well as lentiviral and AAV production.

Responsibilities
Partake in the delivery of all the services provided by the core. This will include (but is not limited to) cloning and other standard molecular biology methods (e.g. RNA extraction, qRT-PCR), cell culture, iPSC cell culture, iPSC-reprogramming, FACS, CRISPR-edits and AAV-production as well as general tasks such as aliquoting and taking inventory.

The candidate is expected to take an active part in the development and standardization of both new and current processes and services. Be able to work independently and maintain a high standard of service and documentation. The day-to-day work involves a lot of routine work and individual research projects are not possible.

As the services requested by the core will vary, all members of the core need to have excellent abilities to work together as a team and be flexible with work task and responsibilities. The core and the SCC are both international work environments and English proficiency is essential.

  • Previous experience in iPSC-culture and iPSC-reprogramming.
  • High level of English proficiency.
  • Great communication, documentation and collaboration skills.

Meriting for the position:
