The Department of Laboratory Medicine is one of six departments at Lund University’s Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research, both broad and specialised, within the field of laboratory medicine, focusing on the onset of disease and how we can improve diagnostics and treatment for patients. The Cell Reprogramming in Hematopoiesis and Immunity group is now recruiting a full-time PhD student that will work in the project of Harnessing Dendritic Cell Reprogramming to Elucidate Mechanisms of Tumor Immunity. The group focuses on cell reprogramming, hematopoiesis, and the development of cell and gene immunotherapeutic strategies.
Work duties
The main objectives for the doctoral candidate will be to conduct research education, which includes participation in and development of research projects but also to master graduate courses and state-of-the-art techniques. The majority of this work must be done independently and in collaboration with both internal and external members of the research group.
The position contains work on the development of a novel direct reprogramming strategy of tumor cells into antigen presenting cells. The goal is to utilize the technology developed in vitro to 1) uncover new regulators of cross-presentation, 2) test this approach to identify neoantigens and 3) test the efficacy of in vivo reprogramming. The successful candidate will be performing molecular cloning, lentiviral productions, work with mouse models, and also support the group by performing general laboratory organization and administration.

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies are those who- have completed a second-cycle degree- have completed courses of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or- have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.
The employment of doctoral students is regulated in the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhD-studies shall primarily be taken into account. In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
