Front-end System Developer at the Department of Computer Science (AI/ML) - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

Background
We are a group of Ph.D. researchers in Lund in collaboration with Stanford University working on an R&D project aimed at building a groundbreaking startup that has the potential to revolutionize cloud and database systems using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques.

We were recently offered seed funding by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation (KAW) to be housed at Lund University (Sweden) to put together an enterprise-grade commercial SaaS platform based on our core Machine learning technology and working prototype.

To that end we are looking to add a new team member to our existing team to take us from the existing core AI/ML engine to a robust finished product in a thriving R&D environment.     

Work duties
We are looking for an accomplished front-end developer who has prior experience building front-end solutions.

We have built a scalable ML engine that will be the heart of our SaaS solution. This role will be the lead developer who builds the front-end and works tightly with our existing development team to build a product around our core technology. This involves building a robust scalable front-end solution that is hosted on cloud (AWS, GC, etc.). The development of this platform is underway, and we seek talented front-end UI developers to work with our team.

The selected applicant will work in close collaboration with associate senior lecturer Luigi Nardi (Lund University, in cooperation with Stanford University).

Qualifications
Applicants must have:

• Front-end development experience for websites / cloud hosted services in Python, C++, C# or Java.
• Experience with HTML/JavaScript/CSS.
• Some experience on UX design.
• Some working experience with Databases and SQL.
• Track record of delivering high-quality work on stringent timelines.
• Understanding of key website design principles and SEO optimization.
• Ability to test and debug websites.
• Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

Other merits
It is a merit to have:

• Strong skills in React, Bootstrap, Javascript and other front-end technologies.
• An in-depth knowledge of web application development - Photoshop and Sketch files are your go to’s to build and create web pages using HTML5 and CSS3.
• A strong creative aspect to who you are - Design is in your personal nomenclature and is organic in your creative development processes. UI is one of your specialties.
• Experience building cloud hosted services on AWS, Azure, GC, etc.
• Experience producing, maintaining, and modifying websites and user interfaces.
• Experience writing clear replicable code and documentation and has the skills needed to be independent on the task in hand.
• A creative, motivated attitude and entrepreneurial spirit.   

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive, and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing R&D within the team, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
Fixed-term employment of 12 months.
You will be employed with the title System Developer.
