Lund University School of Aviation, TFHS, announces a university lecturer. The employment aims to support the work within the ADS, ATO and the research infrastructure UAS@Lund. Subject description
The subject has both theoretical and practical content and includes education at ATP level (Airline Transport Pilot) and in all categories of operations with unmanned aircraft systems.

Lund University School of Aviation conducts research in aeronautical sciences and has a large number of established collaborations. Our broad competence, the research laboratory (UAS lab) and the testbed give us both the foundation and the required infrastructure. The organisation is expanding rapidly in line with the number of internal and external projects in which UAS lab is involved. In addition to research within Lund University's framework and the knowledge centre in Ljungbyhed, the School of Aviation also assists in development projects, complex operations, and education at various levels.

Work duties

Work duties include:

  • Teaching in the first and second cycles of studies
  • Operations with unmanned aerial systems
  • Participation as an expert in national and international projects on unmanned aerial systems
  • Applications and upholding of permits for unmanned aerial systems
  • Preparation and updating of manuals for operations and training with unmanned aerial systems

Work duties could also include:

  • Collaboration with industry and wider society
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above

Concerning teaching, the tasks mainly consist of participation in classroom and distance education, commissioned training, laboratory work and student supervision. In addition, the employment includes involvement in the organisation's development.

Qualification requirements

Appointment as a lecturer requires that the applicant has:

  • Completed a second-cycle degree or acquired corresponding knowledge and has other skills of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise.
  • Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.

Additional requirements:

  • Work experience related to operations with unmanned aerial systems
  • High competence within the EASA regulations regarding unmanned aerial systems
  • Certificate of remote pilot competency, minimum A2
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish and English
  • Be able to engage and enthuse students in flight education, create challenges and provide support, all to achieve optimal study results.
  • Create good relationships and be able to communicate as needed, both with students and colleagues.

Assessment criteria

For appointments to a lecturer, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • Good subject knowledge of relevance to the post and the duties it will involve.
  • Good teaching ability, including a good ability to develop and pursue teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Very good professional experience or other experience of relevance to the post.

Other assessment criteria:

  • Demonstrated pedagogical skills
  • A previous holder of a flight certificate
  • Completed ATP(H)- or ATP theory
  • Documented experience of administrative work including good knowledge and skills regarding general computer knowledge.

The assessment of the pedagogical skills must be based on documented efforts of a pedagogical nature and with a good understanding of learning processes and with the students' learning in focus, as a group but also at an individual level.

Applicants should have a strong vision to reduce the gap between theory and experimental verification.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Conditions

Full-time employment. Probationary employment may be applicable. The workplace is located at the airport in Ljungbyhed. Working hours are arranged according to a local agreement and terms of employment at School of Aviation (PE2010/607).
