Research group

The research group, Isletcellphysiology, headed by Docent Albert Salehi, have an excellent expertise in the field of endocrinology. The research group is situated at the Clinical Research Centre (CRC) in Malmö.

We are now in need of recruiting an assistant researcher to work with research in the project “VDAC1 a common denominator of β-cell, endothelial and kidney cell´s dysfunction inT2D with its complications”.

The employment is a 18-month fixed-term, full-time, employment with proposed start date the 1st of April 2022, or according to agreements.

Work assignments

As an assistant researcher, your responsibility will be to conduct experimental research under the supervision of the Principal investigator. The work tasks consists, primarily, of experimental studies concerning cellular signal systems in insulin producing beta-cells, as well as kidney- and endothelial cells in physiological and pathophysiological conditions. More specifically, the project aim to identify mitochondrial voltage dependent-anion channel (VDAC) expression and cellular localization in beta cells, endothelial and kidney cells/cell lines as well as in tissues from non-diabetic and diabetic organ donors, mitochondrial voltage dependent-anion channel (VDAC) expression and cellular localization in beta cells, endothelial and kidney cells/cell lines as well as in tissues from non-diabetic and diabetic organ donors. Other works assignments within the group may also occur.

In addition to the above, we expect you to stay updated on the progress of research within the field.

Qualifications

The following are required for the position:

  • A PhD exam within a relevant field
  • Laboratory experience in the relevant field of in vitro (cells and isolated pancreatic islets handling) and in vivo skills (mouse/rat handling)
  • Experience of working with human islets
  • Experience of molecular and cell biological methods such as qtPCR, Western blots and confocal immune-fluorescent microscopy
  • Experience of conducting independent research

Great importance will be given to personal traits. For this position we need you have the ability to cooperate with colleagues, take initiatives, be high accuracy as well as be flexible.

The following are considered to be a merit:

  • Experience in bioinformatics
  • Good ability to practical and theoretical tutoring of co-workers
