The position of a research engineer is placed at the Department of Chemistry, Division of Biotechnology, which conducts research and education at undergraduate and graduate level within various branches of biotechnology.

Work duties The work duties as a research engineer involve active participation in a research project dealing with optimal utilization of animal and marine byproducts in collaboration with researchers in Norway. The tasks involve laboratory experiments on chromatographic separation of peptides, performing analyses by HPLC, electrophoresis and measuring biological activity of the samples, identification of peptides by mass spectrometry, data analysis and writing of reports.

Qualifications

  • Master of Engineering in Biotechnology or equivalent
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of protein separation techniques, analyses based on HPLC and electrophoretic techniques.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • Good communication abilities.
  • Ability to perform independent work as well as a team member
  • Ability to critically review scientific literature.

Other merits

  • Some work experience in a laboratory after undergraduate education
  • Experience in chromatographic separation
  • Education in separation processes in biotechnology

Terms of employment Temporary employment: 100 % for 3 months with start according to agreement
