Subject description
We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to the project “Genetic monitoring of connectivity, diversity and adaptive potential”. This project addresses the effect of fragmentation of semi-natural grasslands on pollinator genetic diversity and gene flow using landscape-genomic methods. One sub-project will address the potential for green infrastructure, i.e. the a network of natural and semi-natural habitats, to mitigate fragmentation effects on contemporary genetic diversity, building on spatially resolved land use data. A second sub-project will address to which extent fragmentation leads to loss of genetic diversity over time, taking advantage of the Lund University Biological Museum records for comparison. The project offers an excellent research environment as part of the interdisciplinary research environment Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in a Changing Climate (BECC). The project is led by Associate Senior Lecturer Anna Runemark, , and performed in collaboration with Prof. Henrik Smith, Prof. Niklas Wahlberg, Dr. Magne Friberg, Dr. Maj Rundlöf and Dr. Øystein Opedal.
Work duties
The main duty is to perform research, including designing landscape genomic study systems and sampling strategies, field work to sample genetic material, extractions of genetic material, performing bioinformatical and landscape genomic analyses and synthesise the work for publication. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to take active part in the Evolutionary Ecology of Plant Insect Interactions group activities and the BECC environment. The candidate will be collaborating with a PhD student and supervise MSc students within the project. The position includes the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, and potentially some teaching. There will be opportunities to develop smaller independent projects and apply for smaller research grants to fund these.
Qualification requirements
This postdoctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within landscape genomics, evolutionary ecology, genetics, conservation genetics, landscape ecology or similar completed no more than three years before the employment decision is written (parental leave, sick leave and military service is deducted from the career age).

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The main assessment criteria are:
Additional assessment criteria:
Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the lab group and department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of a maximum of 2 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) between Lund University, SACO-S, OFR/S and SEKO, dated 4 September 2008.
