Biotechnology involves the industrial use of living organisms, or parts of them, to produce food, pharmaceuticals or other products. Important areas include the development of environmentally adapted chemicals, studies of enzymes produced by microorganisms that live under extreme conditions, the separation of biomolecules, genetic engineering, and the culture of microorganisms and control of biological processes. Molecular-biological studies are included in many of these areas of research.

The focus of this employment is development of novel carbohydrate modifying enzymes by molecular biology methods within the framework of a European project. The candidate will together with a PhD-student work on development of enzyme activity and production in recombinant systems. To achieve this knowledge in molecular biology and microbiology (for protein production is necessary.

 Work duties

• Research tasks within recombinant protein production, purification and enzymology
• Specific education tasks of first to third level students.
• Technical supervision of MSc and PhD students
• Reporting of project results
• Collaboration with academic and industrial partners
• Administration in relation to the tasks above

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

• A PhD in Biotechnology or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
• Very good oral and written proficiency in English
• Experience in molecularbiology, microbiology and enzymology and experience in supervision .ro

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

• Experience in recombinant protein production
• Experience in protein purification by chromatographic techniques
• Experience in reporting
