Work duties
We are looking for a person to:

1) become the field manager for work related to monitoring of nest box breeding birds;
2) run laboratory assays measuring oxidative stress and; and
3) run statistical analyses and finalize scientific papers on interactive effects of pollution on avian physiology.

The assistant is expected to work independently, hence a priori knowledge of these three work components are needed. Other duties include co-supervision of students in the field. The work is part of the Evolutionary Ecology Unit at Lund University, so ideally the candidate lives in or near Lund. The work is expected to take ca. 4 months.

Qualifications
Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of:

  • A PhD on the topic ecophysiology of birds (or similar)
  • Experience with fieldwork of nest box breeding birds
  • Experience of the laboratory work along with using GC-MS and microplate readers
  • Good team working skills, but also the ability to work independently
  • Good written and oral proficiency in English
  • Good experience with programming in R A
  • Swedish driver’s licence, category B

Terms of employment
Fixed-term employment for 4 months full-time, starting date is 1st of March.
